Guideline (Intermediate,Concept and Evaluation) Use the Dependency link to indicate a Strategic Dependency relationship between Actors.

This stable version of the Guideline Wiki Page displays the guideline as per the i* Style of the University of Toronto. Registered users can use 'Open Version' link right at the end of the guideline statement below to access the open version of this page

Discussion: The Strategic Dependency Link is used to denote some type of dependency such as, Goal, Softgoal, Task, or Resource dependency, between a Depender and a Dependee. Often, a Dependum is the result of a Means-Ends or Task Decomposition relationship inside the Depender. In these cases, the Means-Ends or Task Decomposition Link should be used inside the Depender, in the SR model.

Strictly speaking, some version of the Dependum (Register for new service) should also appear inside the Depender as shown in the illustration. This is significant for goal evaluation procedure. Please see Section 9.2 'Model Evaluation' for a complete introductory discussion about using i* models for evaluation.
