Guideline (Beginner,Concept) Means-Ends are only used to link a Task to a Goal.

Discussion: The only place where a Means-Ends link can be used is between a Task and a Goal. This type of link cannot be used between Tasks, Softgoals, or between any other combinations of links. Refer to Guideline 5.2.1.7 for additional discussion on using Means-Ends with Goals. Figures 1 and 2 illustrate some possible scenarios of incorrect Means-Ends connections.
